Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine Clinic
The Clinic of Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine at Viljandi Hospital comprises two key departments:
- Emergency Medicine Department (ED)
- Internal Medicine Department
Emergency Medicine Department
The Department of Emergency Medicine provides round-the-clock emergency medical care, including to uninsured patients. Emergency care is necessary in situations where delaying treatment could be life-threatening or result in serious and permanent health damage.
The ED welcomes patients who have:
- An acute health problem (e.g., high fever, difficulty breathing)
- A recent trauma or injury
- Poisoning
Important to know: Patients are treated according to the severity of their condition, not the order in which they arrive; therefore, wait times may vary and cannot be accurately predicted.
In cases of acute mental health disorders, please go directly to the on-call room at the Psychiatric Clinic located at Pargi tee 14, Jämejala village. Patients are seen around the clock by the on-call psychiatrist and on-call nurse. Reception desk tel. 435 4255
Department of Internal Medicine
The Department of Internal Medicine treats patients with pulmonary, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, hematological, renal, metabolic, and oncological diseases; as well as patients with neurological conditions, cases of poisoning, and patients with low-risk infectious diseases. During hospitalization, a plan for examinations and treatment is developed, consulting with specialists in specific fields as needed, and treatment is provided using modern methods.
Children requiring hospitalization are also treated in the Internal Medicine Department; pediatric patients up to 10 years of age are admitted together with a caregiver. The Internal Medicine Department is staffed by therapists with extensive experience, as well as a neurologist and a pediatrician. Nursing and rehabilitation specialists are also actively involved in patient care.
