Patient Advisory Board

On November 5, 2020, the Patient Advisory Board began its work at Viljandi Hospital. The council’s goal is to promote person-centered care at Viljandi Hospital, serve as a trusted representative within the community, by conveying patients’ questions, concerns, and suggestions to the hospital’s management, and to improve the flow of information to patients and their families.
The Patient Advisory Board consists of:

  • Juhan-Mart Salumäe – Chair of the Patient Advisory Board;
  • Piret Aus – Representative for people with special needs;
  • Aleksandra Kena – High school student, youth representative;
  • Siiri Sula – Employee at the Viljandi City Day Center;
  • Sirje Ilver – Member of the Viljandi County Council for People with Disabilities;
  • Ly Kirt – Representative for retirees.

As of today, patient councils have been established at nine hospitals in Estonia: North Estonia Medical Center, Tartu University Hospital, Kuressaare Hospital, Viljandi Hospital, Pärnu Hospital, Ida-Viru Central Hospital, East Tallinn Central Hospital, Rakvere Hospital, and Tallinn Children’s Hospital.
